Dr Who

Did you know that Dr Who is the longest running science fiction TV series in the World? The programme originally ran from 1963-1989 and was successfully relaunched in 2005 The Doctor has been played by ten actors over the history of the show so far, the first being William Hartnell.

Dr Who is a national institution in the UK and watching from 'behind the sofa' is one of the great shared experiences of British childhood! There is a new series coming out in Spring 2010 and the new eleventh Doctor is to be played by unknown actor Matt Smith. The Doctors new assistant has recently been announced as Karen Gillan. Karen is a young, and again unknown Scottish actress, who has already appeared in the drama, having played a Soothsayer in the Fires of Pompeii in the last series.

There is even a rumour that a Dr Who film script is in development, however there has yet to be an official announcement. David Tennant will appear in a special episode 'The Waters of Mars' in November this year, with two further 'one-offs', before handing the role over to Matt Smith.

Dr Who fans will be pleased to see that we stock a great range of Dr Who products at PriceRightHome and we anticipate increasing our range when the new series starts in 2010.
